ANIMATED EXPLAINER VIDEO - YFC
Youth for Christ Eastern-Europe needed to explain the vision and strategy behind expanding their day care centres to their network of leaders, volunteers and supporters. The project needed to find a balance between showing the scalability of the program whilst being sympathetic to the community of children at risk, and their carers. Despite the amount of information to convey, the video also needed to be short enough to work online.
After initial discovery we settled on the format of an animated explainer video. Before proceeding with the full animation we worked up a script with the client, developed storyboards, concept visuals and animatics for their approval. A style was designed that matched the website but also introduced some new elements. The challenge was to merge an infographic style that was needed to communicate the harder strategic element, with a softer, more playful feel to acknowledge the project is really to benefit the children. The result of our brainstorming was a block printed, craft style that also suggested the resourcefulness of the programme. To continue this theme we recorded a voice artist with a nurturing tone and sourced gently building rock music to suit the progressive and empowering nature of the project.
At two and a half minutes long the animation is concise and 'YouTube friendly' whilst imparting both the emotional and practical factors. It will be used in meetings and is currently on Youth for Christ Easter European homepage. The client said of the final animated film
